Recently, I completed a comprehensive project involving the replacement of an outdated oil furnace and air conditioning system. The process began with a thorough assessment of the existing equipment, identifying inefficiencies and potential issues. Following this, the old systems were carefully dismantled and removed. A new, high-efficiency oil furnace and a state-of-the-art air conditioning unit were then installed. This included precise ductwork adjustments and electrical connections to ensure optimal performance. Throughout the installation, I adhered to all safety protocols and industry standards. Post-installation, I conducted rigorous testing to confirm that both systems operated flawlessly. The project concluded with a detailed walkthrough, explaining the new systems' features and maintenance tips to the client.

I conducted a comprehensive maintenance check on the gas furnace's AC components. Initially, the Delta T was 15 degrees, and the filter was in good condition, so no replacement was necessary. I documented the inspection date and status on the filter. Voltages and amps within the indoor unit were within acceptable ranges. The air handler and indoor coil drain pan were thoroughly cleaned. A smoke test on the heat exchanger indicated no issues, but an inspection camera revealed significant rust on the tube seams, which should be addressed in future maintenance. The outdoor unit operated in cooling mode, with voltages and amps also within range. The outdoor coil was cleaned using water to remove debris, improving the Delta T to 19 degrees after 15 minutes of operation.

I conducted a thorough cleaning and inspection of the air conditioning system, including both the indoor and outdoor units, as well as the oil furnace. The cleaning involved the evaporator and condenser coils, unit cabinets, and drain lines to ensure optimal airflow and heat transfer efficiency. I inspected all wiring and electrical connections, finding them secure and free of defects. I tested the condensate drains and safety controls, operating the system in both cooling and heating modes. I changed the oil filter, bled the lines, and replaced the O-rings. I also noted that the drain line lacks a clean-out or EZ trap. The indoor unit's Delta T was 18°F, and the heat exchanger passed inspection. However, the outdoor unit's voltage enhancement system was faulty, and the fan motor was underperforming. I recommended a hot oil treatment and waxing for the oil tank, along with replacing the failed voltage storage device.

I conducted a thorough rejuvenation of the AC system, including a comprehensive cleaning and testing process. Despite the system being significantly older than the average lifespan, it operated efficiently post-maintenance. However, after cleaning, the supply temperature increased, suggesting a possible refrigerant deficiency. Given the system uses R22, which is not readily available, I recommend monitoring for any signs of water leakage on or below the indoor unit. Additionally, Steve Podesta joined to discuss potential replacement options due to the unit's age of 28 years.

Today, I conducted a thorough cleaning and inspection of the air conditioning system, focusing on both the indoor and outdoor units. I meticulously cleaned the evaporator and condenser coils, as well as the unit cabinets, to ensure optimal airflow and heat transfer efficiency. I inspected all high- and low-voltage wiring and electrical connections, confirming they were secure with no visible defects. I tested and verified the proper operation of the condensate drains and all safety controls. The systems were operated and tested in both cooling and heating modes. I found the outdoor unit's voltage enhancement system was failing, and the indoor unit's blower wheel was compacted, potentially causing future failures. I also noted that the drain line lacked a clean-out or EZ trap. I recommended these repairs and scheduled a comfort call to address the customer's needs.

During the AC/furnace inspection, I examined the heat exchanger, heat transfer media, burner tubes, and safety devices. I found debris compacted in the AC heat transfer media, heavy corrosion on the flame safety device and igniter, and rusted burner tubes. The air distribution system was also obstructed with debris, potentially affecting airflow and motor windings. The flue had traces of zinc oxide and weak interior B vent walls. The water removal system passed, but the safety device was not connected, risking basement flooding during a backup. The unit is currently operating in AC mode at 70°F.

I recently completed a comprehensive rejuvenation of an AC system for a valued client. The system, which is 12 years old, was thoroughly cleaned and tested to ensure optimal performance. Despite its age, the system was found to be mechanically and electronically sound. However, supply temperatures were slightly below the desired range, likely due to the natural loss of efficiency over time. To address this, I provided recommendations to enhance performance. Additionally, the customer requested a copy of the Gold Club Membership details, which I will ensure is emailed to them promptly by our office.

This was the first maintenance appointment on my new plan for my heat pump as well as my first experience with Moon Air Inc. The technician, Matt, was AWESOME! He went over and above explaining everything to me as he worked. He took his time making sure each part of the job was done correctly before he went to the next part of the job. Matt was very kind, informative, helpful, honest and considerate. For these reasons, I will ask for him for all my appointments. I would rate him a 15 out of 10 with five stars on top. So happy I decided to go with Moon Air Inc. for my heating and a/c unit. Thank you and thank you Matt. You made a boring appointment enjoyable. See you soon!

After completing work on the furnace, the technician came up from the basement holding a very bent air filter and claimed that the system had caused this deformation. I have checked and changed my filters for many years now and last checked it two weeks prior to the service visit. It was in fine shape. ( I worked in a mechanical testing lab for years and am familiar with routine maintenance and repair of equipment.) Found this whole situation very dismaying and disappointing. This technician is no longer welcome in my home. This type of behavior, I assume done in a misguided effort to ‘up sell’ product, reflects very poorly upon your business.
